K/1's Begin House Project!

After completing their Paul Klee community project the K/1's are finally moving onto their house project! They are all very excited to be starting after hearing about it for so long! Each student will be drawing their own houses and then coloring them in. For our last project the students were encouraged to go a little crazy and make the pictures abstract representations of the buildings they were looking at. For this project the students have been encouraged to make their houses as naturalistic as possible. For the Paul Klee project the students had the choice of tempera cakes, watercolors, and oil pastels. To ensure that the students are exposed to all the materials in the art room, they got a different selection of materials this time; crayons, colored pencils, and chalk pastels. These materials are much more conducive to slow and precise work, while paint can have a mind of its own. Once each student completes their house we will work together to turn all the houses into a K/1 community!
