K/1s Learn About Symmetry

Before beginning their next project the K/1s looked at symmetry, asymmetry, and balance. We worked together on the board to define the concepts and come up with examples. Then the students were broken into groups and given a variety of shapes in different colors. The K/1s then worked in groups to create a symmetrical composition, an asymmetrical one, a balanced composition and one that was not balanced. On Wednesday we will be starting our Paul Klee project and this understanding will come in very handy!
